Jocelyn
Langlois is the 2008-2009 ASNT president. Langlois currently holds
a Level III cert. in UT and has been an active
volunteer in ASNT for more than fifteen years.
She has been employed by Sigma Transducers,
Inc. for over eighteen years.
Prior to Sigma, Langlois worked in the
medical application of ultrasound, including beta testing of acoustical
holography for the detection of breast cancer. Following this experience,
she attended the International Ultrasound Institute in Dallas, Texas.
At the local level, she has served
ASNT as educational director, secretary, treasurer, vice chair and chair,
as well as regional director. Langlois has also been active locally
in bringing NDe career information to the schools since 1996. At the
national level, she first joined the Section Operations Council (SOC)
in 1995 as secretary of the Membership Division, after which she become
chair of that division in 1996. She served as the Membership Division
chair until 2000, when she was elected vice chair of SOC, and was Council
chair from 2002 to 2004. In addition, she is the Regional Directors
Division chair for the Council. From 2002–2005, she served as
the Council’s representative to the Board of Directors. She currently
serves as a member of both the Business and Finance Committee and the
Strategic Planning Committee. Additionally, she has been appointed to
numerous ad hoc committees formed by the ASNT chair of the Board. She
has enjoyed meeting members at the numerous sections she has visited.
Langlois is also active in ASTM as a member
of the E07 Committee on Nondestructive Testing; she is currently vice
chair of the Ultrasonics Subcommittee and is considered “owner”
of E 1065: Standard Guide for Evaluating Characteristics of Ultrasonic
Search Units. She is a member of AWS and the Canadian Institute
for NDE.
